About Us We believe that, as African economies and population grow with time, there is the need to prepare educators, scientists, entrepreneurs, societal leaders, and policy makers dwelling in all parts of the world with strong cross-cultural communication and leadership skills necessary for functioning and surviving in the vast potential African market place. Our strength stems from the fact that all our organizers and faculty that help to deliver quality cultural and Educational experiences to STAR participants were born or have lived in the cultures we bring to you. As a result, we can best point you in the right direction to gain safety, security, deep native insight and most of all practical knowledge that will not just remain a classroom exercise but a remedy to a critical real live problem an African Community. Together we will serve you the most valuable and unique cultural & educational experience you can ever imagine! What We Do Social Theory & Applied Research (STAR) is a study abroad in Africa program that provides educational opportunities such as, formal classroom lectures, supervised field research/studies, cultural and institutional exchanges to individuals, institutions or groups residing in the United States of America. Participants of this program will visit, experience and be trained to understand African cultures which are significant attributes needed for future global leadership and partnership. We are also able to offer custom independent study, special seminar, workshop, conference or training needs for small to large groups. Most important of all, we assist participants to identify and implement critical projects that they passionately deem important to host communities and are willing to challenge the cause.
Mission Statement The STAR program intends to attain recognition as the primary leader in providing quality study abroad opportunities in Africa (specifically) with emphasis on academic learning, cross-cultural adoption, entrepreneurial leadership and applied research in economics, engineering, business development, public health, anthropology, and environmental studies. It is our hope to establish perpetual bilateral relationship between STAR program alumni and their host institutions or communities in Africa.
